The former Public Dispensary in the High Street,
Wiveliscombe, Somerset. The establishment was founded by the Hancock family
back at the beginning of the nineteenth century to provide free medical
treatment and care to the poor of the area. Today the building is divided up
into bedsit rooms and rented out mostly to migrant factory workers from Eastern
Europe. Photographed from the archway of the former Lion coaching inn hotel. |
